Last day of 2010!

Well it is all but done! No more 2010.
Have you seen the crowds in our fair city?
I can remember when Aussies went to bed at 9 o'clock on Old Year's night!
Anyway I think this is much better. The foreshores of Sydney harbour deserve to be loved this way.
Well it is really hot here at the present time and it is going to be hotter tomorrow-not looking forward to that. I wish everyone a very Happy New Year:)

Jim's Birthday!

Happy Birthday Cousin Jim! Eighty one years can you believe it?
We are still getting over Boxing Day but have at last got the house straight and all the dishes washed and away. Now is when I would like a dish washer but for the rest of the time Art and I can handle washing a couple of plates.
It was lovely having everyone here. We have some of the most beautiful granddaughters.
I gave the pavlova to the Johnsons, next door, as it was for 20 and Art and I would have had trouble wading through it.
I still have a cooler bag and a lovely Pyrex pie dish that someone is missing. I will ask on Facebook to whom these things belong:)

Some shots from Boxing Day which ended with a storm. The corellas new it was coming ,there were dozens of them flying around and they were squawking like mad.
I think everyone got home before it really hit.
Bye for now, Jane

I wonder!

Have a look at this wonderful book my son Scott and his wife, Beverley, gave me for Christmas. If you see it in the shop you must have a look. It is quite beautiful as well as totally fascinating.

December 23 2010

Well that old guy in the red suit is almost on his way. I am so relaxed I am a bit worried:) Have I forgotten something.?
I am so pleased Pam has had a minute to check out my blog, although I have been a bit slack lately with postings. In my defence though, I have written 12,000 plus words on my autobiography thingy. so I am pleased about that. God the woman can talk, I hear you say!
I have finished porcelain art for the year and should be able to concentrate on some birthday cards. I have already made two-one for Alannah and one for Daniel. So that is December and January taken care of, next up is Emma-February girl, then Rachel May baby. They are both 21 in 2011 so these cards will have to be special. I am not sure if Emma is still a practicing Jehovah's Witness but I think a 21st deserves some recognition.
Getting back to th porcelain art, I will publish photos of my latest pieces. These were supposed to be finished for the Springwood Exhibition but they (or I even) took too long to complete.

I love the way the two little vase, properly placed, the design looks like a bow.
Time for a cup of tea I think, but before I go I must download one more photograph:)
Isn't it beautiful?

This is why I have not been blogging lately:)

I have been very busy with Christmas cards-making and sending-but that is all done now so I can relax. Are you all ready for Christmas? The PAA(Porcelain Artists Association) Christmas party is over again for another year and we are having an extraordinary meeting in February as we are having problems with the lack of interest in people taking office. Sounds familiar I bet. We are all getting older and there appears not to be any young people interested in Porcelain art. I guess it is not instant enough for the young. Pity. The longer I practice the better it gets-not necessarily my painting- but the knowledge I gain. Now here are some of my latest cards.

I had such a good time at the Papercraft show at Penrith this year. That is where I learned to make the bauble. And the white and pink bauble above was another inspired by the show-Opals Embossing. Art has just made me a cup of tea so i am away now. Have a very Happy Christmas and a safe New Year.

Here are the photos of things I made at Penrith. Sorry Nancy, the butterfly is not a regular butterfly-but fun.

Sunday!

I had such a good time yesterday at The Papercraffair at Penrith. So much to see and do. I made a card with the help of Angela Sargeant and she gave me a great tip about standing up to place things on my card as it is easier to see if it is straight. Thanks Ange. That punch for punching out Christmas tree baubles is fantastic-wish I could afford it but unable to at present.
I also made a butterfly of sorts with Linda Baldock fascinating and I have purchased a few things to have a play with. Check out www.lindystampgang.com for the use of Magical Micas.
I also called in to the www.pipedreamink.com a Tasmanian crowd who had the most interesting embossing powder and stuff. I bought a starter kit and will give this a go. At the stand we made a lovely Christmas decoration I will take a photo and display all the things I made.
All I have to do now is remember how to do it all.LOL

Still Monday:)

What I would like to add is that whoever knitted this jumper in the first place was one lovely knitter an I felt sad having to undo it. It looked like it hadn't even been worn and I got it for $8.00. Shame.

Monday Avo:)

Well I would like to say that I have been very busy in the craft room but that would be fibbing! Now that my head has reduced in size, since the Springwood Exhibition, I have done very little creatively. My Encore group wish to unravel a pullover and re-knit it in a 1940's style -to show what people did during the second World War. So I bought a jumper at the Salvation Army store and unravelled it. I will post photos. My part is over it is up to Mary to do the re-knit. Good on Mary she knits beautifully.

Success!

I sold one of my paintings at Springwood -how good is that?

Spring???

What has happened to the weather? It is freezing-so much for spring-but then they reckon it will be 28 degrees on Wednesday and that is too hot too soon. Too hot for me at any time.
Well our Springwood Exhibition is over as of tomorrow. Can't work out why we wouldn't have kept it going until Monday as that is a public holiday. Never mind I have to go pick up my exhibits tomorrow.
Today I have taken the Gazette to the printer but they are flat chat and it won't be ready until tomorrow.
I will post some photos from the exhibition:

This lovely piece won the Joan Booth Award and was painted by my teacher Fay Green.
The black and white pieces were painted by Phyllis Eastaway, a student of Fay's.

 Di Woolley I think.
 Colleen Hudson.
Beautiful pieces completely made and painted by Joan Lamb.
Di Wooley again I love these.

Saturday:)

I have achieved nothing today. I did water the tomatoes and the potatoes and I have checked my e-mails and that is about it. Can't seem to get going at all. I have watched a bit of Davis Cup and then the Qld rain fell and stopped that so maybe I will go to the craft room and see what I can make a mess of. I fully intended to do some Porcelain painting today using my arm rest but I think that will have to wait until Monday now. We are going to watch Alannah and Tayla dance tomorrow. Art and I went to Springwood yesterday to the Exhibition so I post some photos before I sign out.
These are my 'girls' as hung by the gallery. They took up a whole wall.
The blue vase below is one of mine too.

< this one!
These beautiful pieces are Dianna Woolley.

These are works by Joan Lamb and are truly lovely-she made the shapes as well.
These lovely pieces are by my teacher Fay Green.
